Childminders and Babysitters

Childminders are self-employed and usually work in their own home. If they look after children aged under 8 years for more than two hours a day they must be registered with Ofsted and take an 'Introduction to Childcare Practice' course within 6 months of registration.

Babysitters need no qualifications, and there is no legal minimum age to be a babysitter.
