Breastfeeding saves lives

About 13 percent of all under-5 child deaths could be prevented globally by improving breastfeeding rates, and the better health which breastfeeding gives mothers and children gain would save $300 billion each year in medical costs. For each of the first two years a mother breastfeeds over her lifetime, she decreases her risk of developing invasive breast cancer by six percent. She also benefits from reduced ovarian cancer risk.

Antidepressants during pregnancy do not pose risk to unborn child

Women who take antidepressants during pregnancy do not appear to be at greater risk of giving birth to children with congenital heart defects compared to women who are not exposed to the drugs, according to new research.
