Pirates of the Maize Maze
Set sail on a treasure hunting adventure through the 10 acre maize maze at National Forest Adventure Park, Sat 15 Jul - Mon 4 Sep 2017 from 10 am to 6 pm.
Jolly July Open Day and Fun Dog Show
The Fun Dog Show starts at 12.30 and, as you would guess, has classes for all sorts of dogs. Visit the kennels and cattery at Wyaston, near Ashbourne 23 July 2017, 11 am to 6 pm.

The Princess and the Pig
There's been a dreadful mix-up in the royal nursery. Priscilla the princess has switched places with Pigmella, the farmers new piglet! Biddulph Grange Garden, Saturday 5th August 2-3 pm. Bring along your blankets and folding chairs to enjoy this open-air production, filled with music and puppetry.
Babies put into their own room at six months sleep longer
Study finds that infants who sleep in a different room to their mother after 4-9 months sleep for longer in both the short and longer-term.
Feed babies peanuts, eggs and cow's milk before a year old to protect against allergies
The chance of developing an allergy to eggs or peanuts nearly doubles in infants who are denied them before the age of one, according to the study
Antibacterials in soap and toys should be regulated globally
Governments and regulatory agencies around the world should be wary of the long-term effects of two antibacterial chemicals - Triclosan and Triclocarban - commonly added to everything from soaps to toys. These chemicals can disrupt hormone systems, with possible effects on development, sexual maturation and fertility
Does Spoon-Feeding Really Make Babies Overweight?
Preschool children who followed baby-led weaning are less likely to be overweight than those who were spoon-fed. Similarly, toddlers who had followed the approach were less likely to be fussy eaters, less likely to overeat and were less likely to be overweight.
Babies with involved fathers learn faster, study finds
An active male role in the early stages of babies' development produced better performance in cognitive tests by the age of two, researchers found.
