Pregnant women to get 120 for fruit and veg
Expectant mothers will be given 120 handouts in the
hope they spend it on fruit and vegetables to nourish
their unborn children. The money, which would be
given to women in their seventh month of pregnancy,
would be linked to advice on how to maintain a balanced
diet and give up drinking and smoking.

Toddlers ill from too much salt
Children as young as four are eating so much salt it
is putting their health at risk by raising their blood
pressure, a study suggests. The average four-year-old
ate 4.7g a day, which is way above the 2-3g recommended
for this age group. The message for parents is to check
labels, especially on foods such as breakfast cereals
  and snack products.

No outdoor play hurts children
Children's health is suffering because they are losing
the chance to play outside, a group of experts has
warned. Over-anxious parents, computer games and
school tests are to blame, a letter signed by almost
300 academics, authors and charity leaders says.
