Kirk Langley Playground Opens
  The official opening of the new Kirk Langley playground,
  featuring a clown, cake and balloons, takes place on 
  Saturday April 21.  

Ashbourne Library Reopens
  Ashbourne library will reopen Thursday 19 April at 
  10.30 am with a coffee morning.  It has been closed 
  for 25,000 of improvements.  The library is on 
  Cokayne Avenue.

Free Advice for Parents
  Ashbourne families are invited to take part in 
  free parenting classes.  The project will begin by 
  helping parents of children aged two to eight years 
  on an eight-week course.  Creche facilities and 
  transport will be provided.

Reproductive Revolution?
  Increasing numbers of women around the world are 
  hoping they can stop their biological clock for a decade 
  or more by putting their eggs on ice.  Recent advances in 
  freezing techniques suggest that egg survival and 
  fertilisation success rates for once-frozen eggs may be 
  as good as for fresh ones.  But how sensible and safe 
  is it?

Med diet 'could prevent asthma'
  Eating a Mediterranean diet could help protect children 
  from respiratory allergies and asthma, a study suggests.
  The Mediterranean diet is rich in vegetables and fruit 
  and low in saturated fats.

Maternity and paternity rights Change
  The rights of mothers and fathers have been boosted 
  by the changes contained in the Work and Families Act, 
  which became law April 1.  Women statutory maternity 
  pay is extended to 39 weeks and you will be able to 
  go into work during this time for up to 10 days 
  without losing your maternity pay.

Home birth promise
  Ministers are promising women a choice of where 
  they give birth.  They say they want to create a 
  "world class" maternity service, but there is some 
  doubt over whether this can be achieved.
