See life through the eyes of a newborn baby

Researchers found an infant of two to three days can perceive faces - and perhaps also emotional facial expressions - at a distance of 30cm. This corresponds to the distance between a mother and her nursing baby. But if distance is increased to 60cm, the visual image gets too blurred for the baby to see much.

Research suggests feeding babies a variety of vegetables increases intake

Repeatedly offering infants a variety of vegetables during weaning increases their vegetable consumption and appreciation, according to a new study.

Meningitis B vaccine available to babies from September

All newborn babies in England and Scotland are to be offered a vaccine to combat meningitis B from September, the government has announced.
