Book of the Month -
Winnie the Pooh: Complete Collection of Stories and Poems

by A. A. Milne
Methuen, 2004
ISBN: 0416199615
432 pages
Recommended price: 29.99
Amazon price: 20.99

If you haven't tried reading the original Pooh to your
children do so! I thought they might be too old for my
2 and a half year old, but was so frustrated by the
Disney condensed versions of the stories that I
started to read her the originals, and she loves
them. Especially the story where Pooh gets stuck
in the rabbit hole.

Charming and funny stories for children 2 to 102. This
hardback, slip-cased edition should last a lifetime. It
was released this month to commemorate the
75th anniversary of the publication of the very first
stories about Winnie the Pooh. The volume contains
"Winnie the Pooh" (1926), "The House at Pooh Corner"
(1928) and the poetry from "When We Were Very Young"
(1924) and "Now We Are Six" (1927). With original
illustrations by E.H. Shepard.

Identifying Women at Risk of Giving Birth Prematurely
Levels of a naturally occurring cannabis-like compound
rise sharply in a woman's body when she is about to go
into labour, research has found. Scientists from Leicester
University believe the finding may help to identify women
at risk of giving birth prematurely.

Child of Our Time
The new BBC series returns in January. In the meantime,
the Open University invite you and your children to help
with the research for the next series by taking part in a
simple, fun survey. There are a series of questions about
what makes a good parent, how children spend their leisure
time and what they feel about their identities.
