Mayfield Parents and Tots Needs New Members

Mayfield Parents and Tots is a friendly playgroup, run by parents, which meets every Monday Morning from 9.30 in Mayfield Church Rooms. Please drop in and join them.


Tennis Coaching for Four-Year-Olds

Sessions on Derby indoor courts 9-10am both Saturday and Sunday (kids from 4 years old upwards). The sessions use mini rackets, mini nets and sponge balls and are an ideal start to tennis. You can even get a free trial session.

Tiger Tots Soccer

Tiger Tots Soccer

Weekly 30 minutes of activity followed by biscuits and a drink. Various games and challenges to get 2-6yr olds engaging in sport and socialising with others.

Children should get their teeth brushed at school, says NHS watchdog

Schools should help children to brush their teeth at the start and end of each day, says NICE. Under the proposals, schools will be asked to run daily sessions, physically helping children aged between three and 11 to brush their teeth up to twice daily.

Placebo cough treatment benefits children and their parents, study suggests.

Wider breast cancer screening won't be a boon to women

Cancer screening sounds like the ultimate in preventive medicine. Spot a tumour early and it is easier to treat and cure. That's the theory, anyway. But it ignores the potential problem of overdiagnosis - finding tiny tumours that would never have caused any harm, yet get treated aggressively. The big question for any programme is whether the harms outweigh the benefits.
