by Michael Rosen
For more than twenty-five years children have been swishy-swashing and squelch-squerching through this award-winning favourite.

Great one for the youngest children. Look through the holes to spot details from the wonderful illustrations.

Where the Wild Things Are

4. Where the Wild Things Are
by Maurice Sendak
Let the wild rumpus start - beautifully written prose-poem.

Three little wolves and the Big Bad Pig

5. Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig
by Eugene Trivizas
One for the four-year-olds - children love the topsy-turvey version of the well known fairy-tale.

The Smartest Giant in Town

by Julia Donaldson
Funny, warm-hearted, who could fail to love George, the smartest giant in town?

You never know if you will like something until you try it. Preferably in a different place with different friends.

Duck in the Truck

8. Duck in the Truck
by Jez Alborough
A duck in a truck - a truck that was stuck in some yucky brown muck. A sheep in a jeep and a frog in a bush saw the truck stuck and gave it a push. But the truck stayed stuck! Could a goat in a boat get them out of this mess?

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

9. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
by Eric Carle and Bill Martin
Exuberantly coloured artwork and favourite animals make this rhythmic story the perfect introduction to looking and learning about colours.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

10. Stellaluna
by Janell Cannon
A charming, uplifting story about a bat who struggles to fit in with a family of birds.
